TAC offering grant advisory panels

NASHVILLE, TN — The Tennessee Arts Council announces that as part of the annual grant review process, it hosts advisory panels so citizens from across Tennessee can provide expert guidance in evaluating grant applications. King University welcomes Michael Morgan and his world-class Bible collection

As King University continues to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, we welcome Michael Morgan and his world-class Bible collection to Bristol on Monday, March 21, at 7:00 p.m. at the Kegley Room in the Bristol Public Library. Among the items on display will be a rare facsimile of the First Folio of Shakespeare's works, along with early editions of the Bibles of the Bard's lifetime: the Bishops' Bible, which he heard in church; the Geneva Bible, from which he quoted; the King James, published toward the end of his life.  Full Story »

Johnson City Arts Joins Americans for the Arts' National Study

JOHNSON CITY, TN — The Arts Mean Business. That is the message being delivered today by Johnson City Arts, who announced it has joined the Arts & Economic Prosperity 5, a national study measuring the economic impact of nonprofit arts and culture organizations and their audiences. The research study is being conducted by Americans for the Arts, the nation's nonprofit organization advancing the arts and arts education. It is the fifth study over the past 20 years to measure the impact of arts spending on local jobs, income paid to local residents, and revenue generated to local and state governments.  Full Story »

Speaker series spotlights composers March 1

The Arts Alliance Mountain Empire, in cooperation with the Bristol Public Library, continues its Speakers Series Tuesday, March 1 at 7 p.m. The AAME Speakers Series features local and regional personalities sharing their expertise on topics that enrich and encourage the arts and general communities of our region.
