3,000 Art Kits Donated to School Children in Knoxville Area12.05.2005
KNOXVILLE, TN — Rack Room Shoes is making the holidays a bit brighter for students in Knoxville and surrounding areas by donating 3,000 art kits to the Mission of Hope, a non-profit organization that provides donated and purchased materials to needy families in rural Appalachia.
"Rack Room Shoes is pleased to partner with Mission of Hope to support the Appalachian community and school children in the Knoxville area," said Jan Mauldin, director of marketing for Rack Room Shoes. "We are glad to offer these children a much-needed school supply and are hopeful that the art materials inspire creativity and foster fun."
The regional shoe retailer's art kits will be allocated to 25 local schools this month as part of the Mission of Hope's annual Christmas distribution program. Each art kit includes colored markers, colored pencils, crayons, a paint brush, oil pastels, watercolor paints, an eraser, a pencil sharpener, a ruler, and other art supplies.
"Rack Room Shoes' generous donation is helping us support our community's children in what is one of our most meaningful programs throughout the year," said Emmette Thompson, executive director of Mission of Hope. "We look forward to seeing the smiles on the children's faces as they receive their new art supplies."
