Amadeus Chamber Ensemble performs

The Amadeus Chamber Ensemble announces“Mozart! An Operatic Feast,”the third concert of its 2022-2023 Season presented by the Cathedral Concert Series. The program, devoted to operatic works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, takes place Sunday, Feb. 5, at 6p.m. in the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Brian Salesky, former executive and artistic director of Knoxville Opera, conducts the concert featuring beloved favorites and intriguing rarities from 15 Mozart operas. Maestro Salesky, who made his 1999 Knoxville debutconducting Mozart’s "Don Giovanni"at the Tennessee Theatre, produced a Mainly Mozart Festival in 2006.

The quintet of soloists includes Venezuelan soprano Maria Brea (Knoxville debut), soprano Jacqueline Brecheen (previously heard with the Amadeus Chamber Ensemble), New York mezzosoprano Kara Cornell (Knoxville debut), tenor Kirk Dougherty (previously featured in Knoxville Opera productions of "Mefistofele,""Gianni Schicchi"and "The Impresario"), and Minnesota Opera baritone Aaron Keeney (Knoxville debut). The Ensemble’s concertmaster is internationally renowned violinist Miroslav Hristov who will play solos in scenes from "The Shepherd King" and "The Abduction from the Seraglio."
