Local Historic Fashion Exhibit opens at Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park

Big Stone Gap, VA.The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park announces ”Big Fashion in a Small Town,” a new rotating exhibit featuring clothing from the museum’s collection including an art deco style shawl and beaded purse from the collection of Charmion Carter Mann, along with jewelry from Anne Phillips Taylor.

The “Big Fashion in a Small Town” exhibit also showcases accessories, hats and shoes from the 19thand early 20thcenturies. All of the clothing and accessories in this exhibit were donated by locals residents of Big Stone Gap and surrounding areas.

The exhibit is scheduled to open Friday, March 12 and run through Friday, Sept. 25. The exhibit can be viewed on the second floor of the museum during normal operating hours: Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.; Saturday-10 a.m. until 5 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Regular admission rates apply. Adults $5, Children 6-12 $3, under 6 free. Group rates are available.
