"Our Living Past" focuses on southern music traditions

April 18 – May 31, 2021 @ Birthplace of Country Music Museum

• OPENING APRIL 18: “Our Living Past” is on exhibit at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, Bristol, Va. The Music Maker Relief Foundation preserves the musical traditions of the South by supporting the musicians who make it, ensuring their voices are not silenced by poverty and time. For 35 years, Timothy Duffy has immortalized Southern musical heroes and the world in which they live through his portraits of the artists and images that reflect their experience. The exhibit features 25 framed photographs – featuring artists such as Eddie Tigner, Ironing Board Sam, Pat Cohen, Taj Mahal, Martha Spencer, Little Freddie King and Lena Mae Perry – along with a selection of folk-art pieces made by Music Maker musicians. Related public programming is planned to complement the exhibit. 423-573-1927, www.birthplaceofcountrymusicmuseum.org
