• DEC. 4 & 5: “Christmastide at the Carter Mansion” is held at the Carter Mansion, Elizabethton, Tenn. at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Take a step back in time as historical interpreters guide you through the candle lit rooms of Tennessee’s oldest frame house decorated, as it would have been in 1780, with beautiful greenery for the holiday season. Learn about the customs and traditions enjoyed by colonial ancestors and how they celebrated the season of Christmastide. $8 adults; $4 ages 7-17; free under 6.
