BCM Earns Guidestar Platinum Seal of Transparency

June 10, 2019

BRISTOL, Tn./Va. - The Birthplace of Country Music earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Guidestar, the world's largest source of nonprofit information.

BCM chose to display quantitative metrics for the last three years. Some of the metrics included museum and event attendance, donor contribution totals, and social media engagement to represent trends and how hard the organization is working toward achieving their mission.

To reach the Platinum level, BCM added extensive information to their nonprofit profile which included basic contact and organizational information, in-depth financial information, quantitative information about goals, strategies and progress toward their mission.

BCM is the parent nonprofit of the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival, and WBCM Radio Bristol in Historic Downtown Bristol, Virginia-Tennessee. The mission of the organization is to perpetuate, promote, and celebrate Bristol's rich music heritage; to educate and engage audiences worldwide regarding the history, impact, and legacy of the 1927 Bristol Sessions recordings; and to create recognition, opportunities, and economic benefit for its local and regional communities.

The highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar, Platinum status demonstrates that an organization is focused on measuring progress and is committed to transparency in its endeavors.
