Art in Bloom Gala and Dueling Designers at William King Museum of Art

March 28, 2018

William King Museum of Art hosts Art in Bloom April 14-16 with an opening gala April 13 from 7-10 at the museum.

Over 25 expert floral designers from the region interpret artwork from William King Museum of Art’s five galleries. During this special three-day fundraiser, tour the floral designs inspired by the exhibitions on display including “Suzanne Stryk: Notes on the State of Virginia,” “Coal Country,” “Touching the Sacred” and Appalachian decorative arts from the museum’s permanent Betsy K. White Cultural Heritage Gallery.

The special exhibition begins Friday night, April 13 from 7-10 p.m. at the Gala for Art in Bloom. During the Gala you will be the first to view the floral designs and have a chance to meet both the Federated Garden Club Members and invited Floral Designers alongside their fresh flower arrangements.

At the Gala enjoy live jazz music, a flower-themed buffet, aromatic signature cocktails, dueling designers David Pippin and Barbara Leshyn in a live-action demonstration and an interpretive painter. Tickets to the gala are $75 each.

On Saturday, April 14 several special lectures with expert floral designers David Pippin and Barbara Leshyn are held in the museum’s library on the third floor. Each guest talk is $35. A raffle of the designer’s floral arrangements follows the presentations.

Pippin’s demonstrations include Party Flowers at 10 a.m. and Designing for the Altar at 12:30 p.m. Leshyn explores Designing with Succulents and Air Plants and Items from the Forest Floor at 2 p.m.

To reserve a spot in any of these lectures, visit williamkingmuseum.org or call Brenna at 276-628-5005, ext. 113.
