Believe in Bristol is accepting applications for its Downtown Bristol Facade Improvement Grant, a funding opportunity designed to support exterior improvements that enhance the vitality, appearance and economic strength of Bristol’s Historic Downtown District.
Applications are open Jan. 16 through March 13, with grant recipients announced by March 23. Projects of all sizes are encouraged to apply.
The Facade Improvement Grant program offers up to $10,000 per facade to eligible property and business owners for a wide range of exterior enhancements. Projects may include minor aesthetic upgrades such as signage, lighting and awnings, as well as larger rehabilitation or restoration efforts. A 50/50 matching investment is required, and grant funds are provided as reimbursement upon completion of the approved work.
Eligible applicants include property owners and tenants — including business owners — whose buildings are located within the Virginia portion of Bristol’s Historic Downtown District served by Believe in Bristol.
To ensure equitable access and clear expectations, the program is designed to accommodate a full spectrum of improvement types while prioritizing projects that demonstrate a strong potential for positive downtown impact.
Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
