LEBANON, Va. -- The Heart of Appalachia Community Orchestra will resume rehearsals on Thursday, Aug. 23, in preparation for its Christmas Concert. The orchestra practices on Thursdays, 6-8 p.m., at the Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church. While most orchestra members are from the Lebanon area, some members travel from as far away as Kentucky to play with the group.
Even with dedicated members who are willing to travel to play in the orchestra, there is still room to grow, and new members are welcome.
For the Christmas Concert, the orchestra will play selections such as It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Sleigh Ride, Waltz of the Flowers, and other old favorites. The concert will also feature various instrument solos.
Anyone interested in joining the orchestra can contact the conductor, Kevin Townsend at 276-701-5737, visit the orchestra's website, or simply show up at the rehearsals (due to occasional shifts in the rehearsal schedule, please call before coming ).
To visit the orchestra's rehearsals at the Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church, take Highway 19 to Lebanon, exiting onto Highway 19 Business (Main St), then turn east onto Church St. You will see the church one block from Main St.
