JOHNSON CITY – Students from East Tennessee State University's digital media program received the Student Showcase Award at the recent International Digital Media and Arts Association conference.
The iDMAa Student Showcase recognizes digital media academic programs that have students who are pushing the boundaries of digital art and design. The award is presented to the program with students who best meet criteria for creativity, excellence and technical competency.
ETSU students whose work was featured in the showcase include Patrick Adkins, Min-Zhi Chin, Julia Correnti, Sara De Miguel, Patrick Donovan, Aria Dunn, Kristin Goins, Ryan Grubb, Cory Guscio, Ben Harris, Bryant Hollifield, Ashley King, Mikaela Minihan, Casey Mullins, Karla Njathi, Robert Owens, William Reinhard, Catherine Weinhold, Jack Wesson and Mitchell Wilson.
The students' projects included 3-D visual effects and animation, motion graphics, video and print design.
ETSU competed against 10 other institutions, among them the University of Georgia, University of Florida and State University of New York-Oswego.
In addition, ETSU digital media faculty member Jonathan Hounshell was selected to exhibit his work at the iDEAs Show, held in conjunction with the iDMAa conference, at the New World School of the Arts Gallery in Miami. Hounshell was the recipient of one of three awards given for digital and electronic art.
Cher Cornett, another ETSU digital media faculty member, was reappointed to the iDMAa board of directors for a second term of four years.
