Bristol, Va./Tenn. - Raleigh, North Carolina-based newgrass band Chatham County line headlines Radio Bristol's Farm and Fun Time live radio variety show with two-time national banjo champion Jeff Scroggins and his band Colorado Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
Presented by the Birthplace of Country Music, Farm and Fun Time is hosted by Kris Truelsen and his house band Bill & the Belles. The heartwarming and energetic radio show pays homage to the classic WCYB Radio program that broadcast from Bristol in the 1940s and 1950s. Farm and Fun Time continues the tradition of the classic program by introducing audiences to the very best in local, regional and internationally touring acts with a side of homespun humor, a little storytelling, and live radio jingles written and performed by Bill & the Belles.
Chatham County Line sticks to its considerable strengths – poignant songwriting and inventive acoustic arrangements that draw upon a broad array of American roots influences, highlighted by three and four-part harmonies that shine throughout. An internationally touring act, Chatham County Line has released seven albums to date and is nearing two decades together. Like their North Carolina neighbors The Avett Brothers, whom the act opens for on occasion, Chatham County Line is known for their energetic live shows.
Jeff Scroggins & Colorado is a multi-generational, multi-coastal, and internationally touring bluegrass band whose members have dedicated their lives to the traditions and evolution of bluegrass music. Much like your favorite cult classic film, there is more to notice every time you watch this unassuming – but undeniable – super group comprised of five could-be frontmen/women.
Tickets to be part of the studio audience for Farm and Fun Time are $30 and can be purchased online at ListenRadioBristol.org. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and guests are asked to be seated by 6:55 p.m.
