R. Dean Barr, proprietor ofThe Gallery @ Barr Photographics, announces a new location for the gallery at 203 W Main St., Abingdon, Virginia. The relocation, to a larger space, has enabled The Gallery to resume the feature artist exhibition series for six feature artists per year. Any artist interested in an exhibit should contact The Gallery.
The Gallery @ Barr Photographics re-opens with a renewed focus on museum quality, archival, custom picture framing. The gallery offers framed and gallery wrapped fine art paintings in oil, watercolor and acrylic, in styles ranging from plein air, to abstract to representational, as well as counted cross stitch fabric art and photography giclee printed on canvas, from local, regional and national artists.
Also in the fine art category, there is a robust selection of unframed original paintings, lithographs and giclee prints in styles ranging from representational, to abstract, to fantasy, from internationally recognized, award winning local, regional and national artists, all found in the “Art File.”
Juried fine crafts from local, regional and national crafts persons are available. Selections of cattailbaskets, hand crafted soap, artisan sterling silver jewelry creations, innovative bead work, beautiful high fired and salt fired pottery, amazing blown glass pieces, representing the work of fine craft artists. Also in the gift gallery are lines of international flavor like Mother of Pearl inlay boxes, Bali sterling silver, fine soapstone boxes from India. Rounding out the gift lines are select works of pottery and silver with turquoise creations from indigenous peoples of the American west.
