The Gathering in the Gap Music Festival invites regional artisans to create, display and sell their works at the annual festival Saturday, May 27. Artisans are selected for high-quality and outstanding work for the mutual benefit of all participants. This year’s event is a special celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park. The festival is held in and around the historic grounds of the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, and vendor space is limited.
All items for sale must fit such categories as country, primitive, rustic, shabby chic, vintage, traditional and contemporary folk art. Items should include mediums such as textiles, handcrafted furniture, metalworking, original art, pottery, gourmet foods, basket making, instrument making, stained glass, jewelry making, soap making, etc. Artisans agree to sell complete, finished and ready-to-use products. No unfinished wood kits or patterns, silk flowers or general items made from craft kits are considered.
Additionally, antique vendors and dealers are invited to display and sell their wares at the event. Items from all historical periods are encouraged. For an application, email swvamuseum@dcr.virginia.gov or call 276-523-1322.
