Goodwin's History with the Symphony

January 28, 2008
  • April 12, 1986: The Charles Goodwin Orchestra joined the Kingsport Symphony (now known as Symphony of the Mountains) and John Gordon Ross, Conductor, for a concert at Ross N. Robinson Jr. High School for an official Tennessee Homecoming event.
  • May 11-12, 1991: The Symphony performed a combined program with Goodwin's band on May 11 at the Meadowview Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport and on May 12 at the Paramount Center for the Arts in Bristol, shortly after the restored Paramount re-opened.
  • June 22, 2003: The Charles Goodwin Trio joined the Symphony for "Music in the Meadows," an outdoor concert series at Bristol Motor Speedway, with David Torns, Conductor (assistant conductor to Cyrus Ginwala). Melissa Davidson, a singer/actress from Barter Theatre, performed a new arrangement of "When You Wish Upon a Star" that Goodwin arranged for her.
