International Storytelling Center and Dollywood's DreamMore Resort announce a partnership

October 5, 2014

The International Storytelling Center and Dollywood's DreamMore Resort announced they will join forces in the coming year to highlight the art of storytelling at Dollywood's newest destination in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Opening Summer 2015, Dollywood's DreamMore Resort is inspired by Dolly Parton's warm childhood memories of life growing up in the Smokies and telling stories on her family's front porch.

Located just minutes from Dollywood's award-winning theme parks, the new resort is committed to maintaining and building new multigenerational storytelling traditions. It has partnered with ISC to assist with training, performances and other special activities. The partnership will leverage ISC's deep expertise to find innovative ways of incorporating the art of storytelling into the DreamMore Resort experience.

"Dollywood's DreamMore Resort is excited to draw on East Tennessee's rich tradition of storytelling to enhance our guests' experience," says Amy Owenby, vice president of hospitality for The Dollywood Company. "Dollywood fans have come to love our parks for the stories we tell. We are now thrilled to partner with the International Storytelling Center as we work in the coming year towards integrating storytelling in a meaningful way into our new resort."

"Dolly Parton's story, and her legacy as a songwriter and a storyteller, is an inspiration to people all over the world," says Kiran Singh Sirah, ISC's executive director. "We're delighted to have the tools to support the DreamMore Resort in its vision of using storytelling as a way to bring families closer together, not just during their vacations, but after they return home."
