Jonesborough Theatre Gets New Artistic Director

JONESBOROUGH, TN -- Jonathan McCarter is the new artistic director for the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre.

McCarter has worked in the theatrical field as actor, director, playwright, stage manager; set, light, and sound designer; producer, and arts administrator.

Most recently, he directed The Boy Who Grew Too Fast and Jack & the Beanstalk for Opera Memphis and Crimes of the Heart for Playhouse 51. For the past two seasons, he was the Director of Education and Outreach for Opera Memphis.

In 2002 he founded Homeless Llama Theatre and directed multiple shows with them, including All in the Timing and Bash. He also spent five years writing and directing Harvest Hop for the Memphis Jewish Community Center.

In 2004, McCarter received his BFA in Performance Theatre from the University of Memphis.
