Three award-winning Broadway stars are performing in Kingsport to celebrate the Kingsport Chamber’s 75th year.
The actors join the Symphony of the Mountains Orchestra in a one-time only show – “From Broadway to Hollywood!” – featuring selected favorite musical numbers from Broadway and the movies.
The event takes place Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. at the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Broadway performers include Ben Davis, Dee Roscioli and Scarlett Strallen, each of whom has starred in numerous Broadway plays and musicals and performed with orchestras around the world.
In addition, the Dobyns-Bennett High School Chamber Choir will be part of the program.
“This is going to be a spectacular and unforgettable performance, especially for anyone who loves Broadway and movie music,” said Bob Feagins, Kingsport Chamber executive director of communications and development. “We are absolutely thrilled to have such world-class, immensely talented Broadway stars join our magnificent Symphony of the Mountains Orchestra in a one-time production of everyone’s favorite music from some classic Broadway musicals and beloved movie songs. It promises to be a very entertaining and memorable evening as we celebrate your Kingsport Chamber’s 75th year.”
“Broadway music is always wonderful,” said Maestro Cornelia Laemmli Orth, music director and conductor with the Symphony of the Mountains. “Broadway music with superb artists and a full orchestra will be spectacular. ‘Over the Rainbow,’ ‘Defying Gravity,’ ‘I Could Have Danced all Night,’ ‘Phantom of the Opera’ and the ‘Circle of Life’ are only a few examples of our exciting program which includes something for everyone’s taste.”
