Knoxville Children's Theatre Receives $2 Million Donation

October 13, 2026

Knoxville Children’s Theatre announced a transformational $2 million donation from the Boyd Foundation to their Next Stage capital campaign.

This historic gift represents a major step forward in KCT’s vision to create a comprehensive arts center dedicated specifically to children in the heart of Knoxville. The donation represents a major milestone in KCT’s ambitious $10 million capital campaign to create a state of the art facility dedicated to inspiring young artists and serving the community.

KCT purchased the historic Foundry building with the vision of transforming it into a comprehensive arts center and destination for children and families. Every dollar raised in the Next Stage campaign beyond the building purchase is dedicated to renovation and modernization.

“This incredible gift from the Boyd Foundation is truly game-changing for Knoxville Children’s Theatre," said Sien Moon, executive director of KCT. “The Boyd family’s generosity brings us significantly closer to realizing our dream of a world-class home for arts education for East Tennessee’s children. This facility will provide thousands of young people with opportunities to discover their voices, build confidence and explore the transformative power of theater. We are deeply grateful for this investment in our mission and our community’s children. The Boyd family expressed strong enthusiasm for supporting KCT’s vision and the profound impact the organization has on young lives throughout the region.

?“We believe in the power of the arts to transform young lives, and Knoxville Children’s Theatre has been doing that remarkable work for years,” said Jenny Boyd. “We’re thrilled to support the Next Stage campaign and help create a place where young people can dream, create and flourish. This is about investing in our kids, expanding opportunity and strengthening our community for generations to come.”

The Next Stage capital campaign continues to build momentum, with fundraising actively under way to complete the comprehensive building renovation. Community members interested in supporting the campaign are encouraged to contact Executive Director Sien Moon or visit KCT’s website for more information on how to contribute to this exciting initiative.
