Grammy Award-winning artist Mike Farris brings his special Christmas show to Bristol this holiday season: Mike Farris Sings! The Soul of Christmas. This concert – Friday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. at the Paramount in historic downtown Bristol – is presented by the Birthplace of Country Music.
Taking a path that intertwines rock, blues and gospel, Farris rediscovers and reinterprets traditional gospel music while adding his own mix of Stax-influenced blue-eyed soul. An annual tradition in Nashville for many years, his special Christmas celebration is sure to bring down the house and ring in the holidays on the highest of notes here in Bristol.
Farris is a fan favorite performer at Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, and in 2015 he took home a Grammy Award for Best Roots Gospel Album for his recording “Shine for All the People.” In 2010 Farris earned the GMA Dove Award for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year for “Shout! Live,” and he was among the artists who performed at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame’s 16th Annual America Music Masters Concert honoring Aretha Franklin. Last year Farris made his Grand Ole Opry debut.
Tickets to the show range from $22 to $97 plus tax and fees. Doors open at 7 p.m. To order and for more information, visit the events page at BirthplaceOfCountryMusic.org.
