Mountain Music Museum joins The Crooked Road

September 6, 2011

BRISTOL, VA - The ACMA Mountain Music Museum in the Bristol Mall has been named an official Crooked Road Affiliated Venue. As an Affiliated Venue, the ACMA Mountain Music Museum will receive recognition in Crooked Road publicity, promotional materials and website.

"The ACMA Mountain Music Museum is a gem of a place, where visitors can get a real sense of the tremendous impact this region's musicians have had on American music," notes Jack Hinshelwood, Executive Director of The Crooked Road. "At the Museum they can see the instruments, hear the songs and learn about the Carter Family, the Stonemans, Tennessee Ernie Ford and many others. And you have to love the setting – how many malls do you know that have something this culturally significant? I don't know of any. The Museum is a great asset for travelers along The Crooked Road because it can be enjoyed any time a visitor wants to stop by."

The ACMA Mountain Music Museum has been under operation at the Bristol Mall since 1998 and also includes a gift shop with an excellent selection of recordings by the many great musicians of the region, past and present.

The Crooked Road recently announced the inclusion of several additional Affiliated Venues and Festivals. The Affiliated Venues and Festivals represent the very best in authentic Crooked Road music and present a high quality community oriented experience on a very consistent basis. A complete listing of all the Affiliates and eight Major Venues of The Crooked Road: Virginia's Heritage Music Trail can be found at www.thecrookedroad.org.

The Crooked Road's mission is to support economic development in Southwest Virginia by celebrating and preserving this Appalachian region's unique musical and cultural heritage. The Trail itself covers 330 miles and connects the Town of Rocky Mount in Franklin County to the Breaks Interstate Park in Dickenson County.
