BOONE, N.C. - Kingsport photographer Jeffrey Stoner's image of "Nash," a goat from the Roan Mountain Highlands, has been selected as the top image in the Flora and Fauna categories in the 8th annual Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition.
Stoner says, "I began my Angora Goat series in 2008 during the first year of the Baa-tany Goat Project on the balds of the Roan Mountain Highlands. 'Nash' was the 2010 addition to the series. I can't help but smile when I look at him, and I heard from the judges that his winning smile won them over, too."
The exhibition will be on display through June 4, 2011 at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts on the campus of Appalachian State University.
