About the Gallery
The Arts Depot, located in a historic freight station, is home to six resident artists in working studios, a gift shop and three art galleries exhibiting art by emerging, established and master artists from a wide region. The Depot Artists Association hosts many events at The Arts Depot including concerts, plays, readings, book signings and opening receptions throughout the year.
Resident artists interact with visitors, selling a variety of artwork. Stop in to choose from clay art, 3-D tapestry weaving, jewelry, portraiture, watercolor, acrylic, oil, 21st Century Trash Art and much more. More than 70 local artists sell their jewelry, fiber art, photography, sculptures and other items.
In December, The Arts Depot will holda Holiday Open House Dec. 5 from 6-8 p.m. with food and beverages, a people’s choice award and a door prize. The galleries will be showcasing artwork from some of the 250 members. On Dec. 21, Songwriters of Highlands Appalachia’s present Songmakers in the Round from 2-4 p.m. Stop in any time before Dec. 28 to make an ornament at a self-led art station.
The sale of affordable, quality locally created art helps support The Arts Depot’smission to promote regional artists through working studios and gallery exhibits, provide arts educational opportunities, maintain financial sustainability and expand community outreach.
