Theatre Bristol entertains with Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night'

January 24, 2022

Let Theatre Bristol get you into the mood for love with William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” on the ARTspace stage Feb. 11-14. Performances are Friday, Saturday and Monday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at theatrebristol.org.

“Twelfth Night” is a tragedy-quickly-turned-comedy as twins Viola and Sebastian are separated after a shipwreck on the Illyrian coast. Thinking the other dead, Viola and Sebastian mourn their lost sibling. As they work to regain their footing on their separate paths, they meet some of the interesting characters of Illyria.

Madly in love with Lady Olivia, Mason White rules Illyria as the illustrious Duke Orsino. Viola, played by Faith Vance, goes undercover using the alias “Cesario” to serve as a page to Mason’s Count Orsino. As “he” tries to woo the lovely Lady Olivia, played by Riley Lowe, on behalf of Count Orsino, Viola begins to fall in love with Count Orsino, herself.

Meanwhile, Lady Olivia’s aunt, the brilliant, jovial Lady Tabby Belch, enjoys partying, and galivants and rouses the night with Lady Alice Aguecheek. Enelisa Sutton and Whitney Brooks delight as Lady Tabby and Lady Alice, respectively. Chloe Campbell attends Lady Olivia as the clever Maria.

Luke Gray serves Sebastian as his loyal companion, Antonio. Cooper Knapp captivates as the witty jester, Feste. Zaiah Gray will have you laughing as Malvolio, in his yellow stockings and cross-garters, and wrench your heart as Sebastian as he reunites with his long-lost sister, Viola.

“Twelfth Night” is directed by Camille Gray, and costumes, set, lights and sound are designed by the Youth Service Board. Albert Tester takes the lead on lights and sound, and Luke Gray takes the lead on scenic design.

Theatre Bristol continues their 2022 season with River’s Way in “Real Heroes,” “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “The Sound of Music,” The StART of Adventure summer camp, “To Kill A Mockingbird” and “Elf The Musical.” To participate in Theatre Bristol’s 2022 season, go to theatrebristol.org to learn more about auditions and how to get involved.
