Three from ETSU program receive IBMA awards

JOHNSON CITY - East Tennessee State University announces that alumni, faculty and students of its Bluegrass, Old-Time and Country Music Studies have received 2018 International Bluegrass Music Association awards.

Current ETSU graduate student and Bluegrass, Old-Time and Country Music Studies alumna Aynsley Porchak received an Instrumentalist of the Year Momentum Award.

Alumna Becky Buller and alumnus and Program Director Dan Boner received an IBMA award for their work on “Speakin’ to That Mountain,” which won for Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year.

Buller also received an award for her work with Missy Raines, Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull and Alison Brown on “Swept Away,” which won for Recorded Event of the Year.

The winners were announced at the 2018 IBMA Awards Show at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh, North Carolina.
