Virginia Highlands Festival presents “An Evening of Peace, Love, and Music” Saturday, Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. Performers include Folk Soul Revival, Bishop Perry Williams and the New Travelaires, “The Network King” Lee-Lee Williams, and the Freedom Footstompers. This concert is co-presented by 423 Social in Bristol, Tennessee, and takes place at that venue. Tickets are $20 in advance/$25 at the door and limited to the first 300 people to arrive to enable social distancing.
“We were devastated to have to cancel the summer festival,” said Becky Caldwell, executive director. “Rhonda Mossholder, our music committee co-chair, approached me with this idea to have a concert inspired by our desire to support our community of artists and performance venues. It seemed like the perfect way to support a local venue, regional musicians, and raise some money so that we can have a summer festival next year.
“We are immensely grateful to Marques and the team at 423 Social for working with us to present this fundraiser for the Festival.”
“Woodstock, 1969 was the inspiration for our ‘Evening of Peace, Love & Music,’” said Rhonda Mossholder, co-chair of the festival music committee. “Woodstock occurred after a pandemic and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We find ourselves in a similar situation with everything that is going on in our country. Let’s come together for a great evening of peace, love, and the most rousing, spirited music around.”
423 Social is located at 250 North Raceway Villa Drive, Bristol, TN 37620. Concert happens rain or shine. Because it is a fundraiser for VHF, there will be no refund in the event of cancellation. Advance tickets are available online at https://bit.ly/Peace_love_music.
Organizers are closely watching the situation with COVID-19 and will follow all Tennessee guidelines to ensure the health and safety of attendees, performers, and employees. For updates, follow Virginia Highlands Festival on Facebook.
