Wildlife Weekend Photography Contest Winners

BRISTOL, TN - Winners of the 2011 Wildlife Weekend Photography Contest and Show were recently announced by Friends of Steele Creek Nature Center and Park (FSCNCP). The contest was open to amateur photographers submitting pictures taken at Steele Creek Park in Bristol, Tenn. More than 100 images were submitted by 26 photographers.

Adult Division winners are Deborah Blevins, first place for "Snowy Day;" Terri Campbell, second place for "Squirrel's Eye View;" Crystal Mitchell, third place for "Spider Web;" and Deborah Blevins, People's Choice Award for "Snowy Woods." Honorable mentions went to to Crystal Mitchell for "Dragonfly" and to Terri Campbell for "He Loves Me," "Friends of a Feather," "Steele Creek" and "The Frosting."

Youth Division winners included Max Hale, first place for "Trees - Silence;" Annie Brumfield, second place and People's Choice Award for "Frog;" and Ellie Baker, third place for "Orange Flower." Honorable mentions went to Annie Brumfield for "Leaf," "Mushroom," and "Sun Reflecting into the Water."

Judges for the contest were Earl Neikirk, staff photographer for the Bristol Herald Courier and Chris Stewart, director of the digital media program at King College.

FSCNCP is a nonprofit, volunteer organization whose primary purposes are to assist the Nature Center staff in educational, recreational, and research activities, to assist with the development and maintenance of park trails, gardens and facilities, and to preserve and protect the natural areas of Steele Creek Park.
