'Alice in Wonderland' is on stage

Knoxville Children’s Theatre, in partnership with the Clayton Foundation, presentsDisney’s "Alice in Wonderland Jr.." The play is performed fromJuly 11 through July 27, with showtimes onThursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The production takes place in Knoxville Children’s Theatre’s exciting new location at 747 World’s Fair Park.

When young Alice finds herself in a strange world where everything seems upside down, she must find her way home ... and find herself along the way. As she travels through Wonderland, she encounters all of the iconic characters that audiences have come to love: including the ever-tardy White Rabbit, the grinning Cheshire Cat, a cool Caterpillar, the wacky Mad Hatterand the hot-tempered Queen of Hearts. "Alice in Wonderland Jr." features Disney favorites such as “The Golden Afternoon,” “The Unbirthday Song” and “Painting the Roses Red” along with brand-new songs, including music from the 2010 live-action film.

The production features 24 young actors, ages 9 to 17. Seasoned KCT veterans Olivia Birbeck (Alice), Jesse Watson (White Rabbit), Golden Littlejohn (Mad Hatter)and Maggie Ingle (Queen of Hearts) lead theensemble. Additional veterans joining them are Brooklynn Rudacille (Tall Alice), Emery Roberson (Small Alice), Michele Phelps (Mathilda), Evie Strangward (Ace of Spades), Stella Robinowitz (Caterpillar), London Wasinger (Dodo), Benjamin Ward (March Hare), Weston Bucher (Tweedle Dee) and Kai Cass (Tweedle Dum).

Playing Cheshire Cats 1, 2, and 3 are Ida Roberson, Camila Herreraand Hazel Butcher. Making up the Flower Chorus are Zoe Brockman, Nora Halliburton, Amelia Carroll, Celia McKenzie and Madisyn Beckman, and joining them in the Wonderland Ensemble are Beckham Read, Amy Rogersand Lorelai Bailey.

The play is directed by seasoned KCT Artistic Director, Dennis Perkins. The scenic design is led by Zowie Cook and assisted by Sophie Bishop, Joelle Arellano, and Zeb Brockman. Ava Reagan and Indra Mynatt serve as co-costume designers and are assisted by Lila Komeshak, Scarlett Cooperand Kai Banda. The props are designed by Lucille Childers who is assisted by Isabella Summers, Zaide Otisand Nate Miller. Thomas Ludvig serves as the lighting designer. The play is stage managed by Emma Reagan and assistant stage managed by Harper Knight.
