'Fantastic Mr. Fox' is on stage

June 7–23, 2024 @ Knoxville Children's Theatre

Knoxville Children’s Theatre, in partnership with the Clayton Foundation, presents a production of “Fantastic Mr. Fox.” The play is based on the classic book by Roald Dahl. The play is performed June 7-23,Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 1 p.m.and 5 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m.

Roald Dahl’s much-loved story follows the vain attempts of three farmers, Boggis,Bunceand Bean to get rid of the fox who regularly steals food from their farms. Despite their efforts to get rid of the fox by any means possible, the hapless farmers are outwitted at every turn.Ultimately, Fantastic Mr. Fox devises a plan to ensure full stomachs for his family and friends, all of whom celebrate with a sumptuous feast.

The play is performed by 20 young actors from ages 9 to 17. Mr. Fox is played by KCT veteran Xavier Truman with Luna Chavez as Mrs. Fox. KCT veterans Noe Etheridge, Julia Lance, and Quinton Stif?er join them as the three farmers Boggis, Beanand Bunch respectively. Caedmon Gifford portraysBadger with Thomas Ludwig as Weasel and Ellery Wynn as Rat. Other KCT veterans joining the cast are Owen Bellamy, Mason Cox, Julian Daniel, Maggie Ingle, Cristian Salas, Emerson Wagner, and Grayson Wright.

Making their KCT debuts in this production are Chloe Harrison, Savannah Quintana, Elizabeth Quintana, Sophia Stif?er, and Auden Tatler. This production is directed by KCT guest director Ashlee Latimer. The play is designed by 17 young student designers from ages 9 to17.

Brooke Fellow provides the scenic design with assistance from Isabelle Bender, Weston Bucher, Zee Carnes, Emily Rowe, Avannah Jumpand Amerie Wrinkle. KCT veterans Carter Caseand Delaney Rickaman provide the lighting design. Maggie Clowerdesigns and builds the costumes with assistance from Hazel Bucher, Desmond Gondo, Lydia Komeshakand Ben
Ward.The prop masters are Hogan Honeycutt, Graham Kelley, and Lyric Wester?eld. The play’s stage manager is Carlie Houk with assistant stage manager Michelle Phelps.
