The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park hosts Shadows of the Past: A Stroll Through Glencoe. This walk is held Saturday, Oct.24, from 5 to 6 p.m., in Big Stone’s Historic Glencoe Cemetery.
Participants join park rangers and explore and discover the stories of a few of the town’s past cast of characters. The audiencelearns about individuals who came to Southwest Virginia with the lure of making a better life for themselves; business leaders and teachers, musicians and craftspeople, plus a host of others that have contributed to the close-knit community that we share today. Wear comfortable shoes and expect moderate standing and walking.
Participants should meet park rangers at the parking area within the cemetery (near the information kiosk). This is a free program. Registration is not required. For more information, call the park at 276-523-9640.
