MARION, VA- The Tri-Cities Jazz Orchestra performs a live score for the 1925 silent film "My Lady of Whims" Friday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m.,at The Lincoln Theatre.

Although The Lincoln Theatre opened in 1929, two years after the mainstream introduction of sound film, they are no strangers to silent movies. Dating back to its opening year, the theaterscreened many silent newsreels. For example, locals saw the Henry King film, "She Goes to War, Aug. 21of 1929. Although not fully silent, it’s an early example of the theater not shying away from showing part-talkies. In more modern times, The Lincoln Theatre has shown many silent films. The majority have been featured in their yearly Dread Through The Decades program; this program focuses on horror films from each decade the theaterwas open.

Patrons have gotten the chance to see "Nosferatu" (1922), "Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari" (1920), and the original "Phantom Of The Opera" (1925). Attendees of their monthly program, Film Freaks, have also dived deep into the history of silent film.

The Tri-Cities Jazz Orchestra is returning to the Lincoln Theatre this March to bring audiences back to the roaring '20s. Previously, the group performed the Clara Bow flick "It" (1927), and they are back to do another one of her classic films, "My Lady of Whims." The American silent comedy film My Lady of Whims, directed by Dallas M. Fitzgerald and released in 1925, follows Bow as Prudence “Prue” Severn. When two men are hired by Mr.Severn to “rescue” his daughter from the wild and scandalous clutches of bohemian life, she eludes them in every way possible .

Considered a provocative movie for the era, audiences will enjoy the timeless comedy and romance "My Lady of Whims" has to offer and will be even more delighted by the accompanying performance by The Tri-Cities Jazz Orchestra.
