Knoxville Children's Theatre has new production

Knoxville Children’s Theatre, in partnership with the Clayton Foundation, presents a live musical production of "Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark" based on the award winning children’s book by Mary Pope Osborne. The play is performed Sept. 13- 29. Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 1p.m. and 5 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m.

"Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs before Dark" is an adaptation of the first of Mary Pope Osborne's award-winning fantasy adventure books from the Magic Tree House book series, which has sold more than 100 million copies and is available in more than 100 countries around the world. Jack and Annie’s tree house transports them back in time to the age of the dinosaurs, where the siblings courageously learn that things are not always what they seem.


The play is performed by 19 talented young actors ages 8 to 14. The cast includes KCT veterans Ida Roberson and Desmond Gondo playing Annie and Jack. Susan is played by Chloe Beeler and Henry isplayed by Ginny Field. Natty isplayed by Maggie Ingle and Joan isplayed by Grace Templeton. They are joined by KCT veterans Marion Field, Maggie Lamb, Ella Olinzock, Beckham Read, Amy Rogers, Afton Schuh, Macon Sloan, Evelyn Strangwardand Jacey Weaver.

Making their KCT debuts in this production are RJ Bumpus, Harper Monday, Annabelle Nanceand Jackson Weaver. The show is directed by guest director Ethan Graham Roeder and designed by 13 student designers ages 9 to 16. KCT veteran Taylor Brusseau provides the scenic design with assistance from Lucille Childers, James Carpenter, Tina Sloan and Ben Ward. Jenna Blumberg providesthe lighting design. Addison White provides the costume design with assistance from Kami Kamavas, Luna Chavezand Daisy Fritts. The props masters are Taylor Tucker, Hartley Narron, and Hogan Honeycutt. The play is stage managed by Michelle Phelps with assistance from Allison Loveday.
