Big Stone Gap, VA -The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park hosts a special Friday "Lunch on the Lawn" Friday, July 26, at noon, featuring Katie Bledsoe and The Holler Dogs.
Hailing from the old coal camp hollers of St. Charles, Virginia, Katie and The Holler Dogs consists of leader Katie Bledsoe on lead vocals and guitar, her sister Cassie Bledsoe on mandolin and vocals, and Earnest Bledsoe on lead guitar and whatever else the song calls for.
From the earliest childhood influences of the acapella harmonies that rang through their Papaw’s Primitive Baptist Church, Katie & the Holler Dogs have woven amusical tapestry that combines shades of honky tonk, country, bluegrass and punk.
Park staff and volunteers will have crafts and activities for children at each “Lunch on the Lawn” program. So, bring the whole family out, have some fun in the beautiful Victorian Garden and enjoy an afternoon of home-grown music and entertainment on thelawn of the museum.
This special Friday “Lunch on the Lawn” event is free and open to the public. Participants may bring their own lunch or pre-order one from the park for $10 each. This week’s featured menu is hamburgers on the grill, chips, side salad, dessert and choice of beverage. Orders must be made in advance by noon on Wednesday, July 24.
