Big Stone Gap, VA.The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park hosts its last “Lunch on the Lawn” Music Series Sunday, Sept. 22, from 2 to 3 p.m., featuring local artist The Papa Joe Smiddy Bluegrass Band (previously, the UVA Wise Bluegrass Band).
This is a collegiate level group that strives to keep the traditional music of Southwest Virginiaalive while also experimenting with music and genres outside of bluegrass. In the past, the group has performed on international stages in Luxembourg and France, and local venues such as The Country Cabin in Norton, Virginia. Laye’s Hardware in Coeburn, Virginia,and the Papa Joe Smiddy Music Festival at Natural Tunnel State Park.
Park staff and volunteers have crafts and activities for children at each Lunch on the Lawn program.
Enjoyan hour of music underneath the shade trees and an afternoon of home-grown music, fun and entertainment on thelawn of the museum.
