Wise,VA–Fusing awe-inspiring street dancers from Krump,FlexN, and breaking communities with the virtuosic music-making of The Beatbox House,The Missing Element is an immersive experience where street dancers and beatboxers utilize their abilities to embark on an adventure of sound and dance. All music and soundis100% human generated.
The Missing Element featuring The Beatbox House performs in theGilliam Center for the Arts Black Box Theater at UVAWise Friday,Sept.12 at 7 p.m. in conjunction with Pro-Art’s 49th season and the W. Commissioned by Works & Process, The Missing Elementexplores the universal elements of Earth, Wind,Fire, and Water.Past performances have taken place at the Guggenheim Museum, Guild Hall,KaatsbaanCultural Park, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Little Island, National Gallery of Artand at the Guggenheim Bilbao’s 25th Anniversary. The project started its life in renowned Brooklyn nightclub House of Yes.
The Beatbox House is a collective of world-champion beatboxers. Through education, performance, and collaboration,the collective is rebranding the art as a new form of music, pushing the boundaries of the human voice.
The audience is encouraged to spectate andparticipate.The work embodies the continuum of concert and social to build community, participation, and belonging, rather than asking audiences to solely watch passively.
