The Paul Brock Band returns to Northeast State

Let the road that rises to meet you bring you out to Northeast State Community College when the venerable Paul Brock Band returns with two performances of unmatched traditional Irish music.

This internationally acclaimed Irish band travels from Ireland to Northeast State to share Celtic, Irish and Global music and dance Wednesday, Oct. 30. The band performs at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Kingsport Higher Education Center, 300 W. Market St., in downtown Kingsport. The day rounds out with an evening show at 7p.m.in the Entertainment Technology Performance stage on the Blountville campus next to Tri-Cities Airport. Both performances are free and open to the public.

A button accordionist and melodeonist, Brock is one of Ireland’s most celebrated traditional musicians and has been at the forefront of Irish music for many years.A multiple All-Ireland accordion champion born in Athlone, County Westmeath, Brock pursued a solo career through the '60s and '70s by mastering the single-row, two-row, three-rowand five-row button accordions. His illustrated lecture “Irish Traditional Music in America – The Golden Era” has been widely acclaimed.

Brock has recorded numerous highly acclaimed albums including "Green Grass Blue Grass," a collaboration with 14-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Skaggs, celebrating the strong connection between traditional Appalachian and Irish music. Brock has appeared with acclaimed Irish band The Chieftains on multiple occasions and performed on the Grand Ole Opry.
