Big Stone Gap, VA.The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park announces the fall semester of the WiseJAMS music program. WiseJAMS seeks to preserve the important Appalachian Mountain music heritage by offering low-cost classes in fiddle, old-time banjo and guitar to small groups of students in after-school settings.
Classes begin Thursday, Sept. 19,and run through Thursday, Nov. 21 for the 2024 fall session. Graduation isTuesday, Dec. 3. Classes are held at the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State ParkThursdaysfrom3:45 to 5:45 p.m. and serve students in grades 3-8. Youth who participate in this program are required to attend all weekly classes. During the classes, students receive an after-school snack and a 90-minute instructional session. Full Pay $135; Half-Pay $68; Scholarships are available as well. If your child is interested in attending the WiseJAMS Music Program, a parents meeting will be held in the Victorian Parlor on Tuesday, Sept.17, at 6 p.m.
