BRISTOL, VA-TN -- Ten new sculptures have been selected for 2008 as part of the third annual Art in Public Places (AiPP) project in downtown Bristol, TN/VA.
The sculptures will be installed on August 6. A walking tour of the art will begin Thursday, August 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the front entrance of the Bristol Public Library.

The exhibition is funded solely by private donations from area businesses and individuals, and donations are being accepted. Sculptures from the 2007 competition are for sale and will be leaving at the end of July.
The community art project is organized and implemented by the AiPP Committee of Arts Alliance Mountain Empire (www.aamearts.org), with the cooperation of Bristol's two city governments.
This year's winners were chosen by juror Paul Ha, Director of the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis, MO, and a well-known art world figure.
Each year, AiPP polls the community - online (www.aippbristol.org), at the Bristol Public Library, and elsewhere - to determine which sculpture is the favorite among residents. This is an important phase of the project because AiPP provides the city feedback from the community about what kind of sculpture might be enjoyed on a permanent basis.
