BCMA announces partnership with The Southern Ledger

February 16, 2007

Bristol, TN-VA -- Officials from the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance (BCMA) have announced a partnership with The Southern Ledger to provide content in the form of weekly essays, reviews, and other items of interest. Officials also commented that they were examining promotional opportunities beneficial to both organizations, as well as to the community.

"This is a great partnership for us to form," commented Bill Hartley, Executive Director of the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance. Hartley noted that this partnership will allow the BCMA to reach a new audience, educating them about the region's musical heritage. "We hope to provide insightful and thought-provoking content to make individuals think about this region and the role it has played in the continuing development of bluegrass and country music."

SouthernLedger.com is becoming one of the Southeast's premier news and culture websites. "Our purpose is to inform readers of news in the Southeast U.S. and beyond and to provide a spectrum of interesting articles that will enrich the lives of curious individuals who desire to explore cultural issues," commented Sam Jordan, Executive Editor. "This partnership will enhance and complement our unique offerings devoted to celebrating life in the South: Southern Music Southern Writers, and Sissy's Life and Gardens.

Jordan added that having content from the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance bolsters the site's in-depth coverage and goal to make its articles relevant to residents of the South and to those interested observers of life in the South. "As a family-owned business based in Bristol, this is a natural fit for us to provide insight not only into our community's heritage, but also into the legacy it has on Southern life and our national culture."

The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to telling the story of the living musical heritage of the Appalachian Mountains and the cultural traditions that sustain it. The BCMA is funded in part by grants from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the Tennessee Arts Commission. For more information, call (276) 645-0111 or click here to visit the BCMA online.
