The Birthplace of Country Music Museum is throwing a Boot Scootin’ Block Party March 27 from 5-7 p.m. in celebration of the last week of the special exhibit, “Boot Scootin’ History: The Craft and Stories of Cowboy Boots.” The festivities include a cowboy boot contest, line dancing and an opportunity to see the exhibit for free before it closes April 6. There is no fee to participate, though donations are encouraged to help support free and low-cost museum programming.
Line Dancing with Carla starts at 5 p.m. under the Axe and Ale House dance tent located behind the museum. All ages and skill levels are welcome and encouraged to dance. Instruction is provided. A wide variety of food and drinks are available for purchase at Axe and Ale House and can be brought to the dance tent while you enjoy the music.
The cowboy boot contest begins at 6:30 p.m. Contestants can sign up at the dance tent and must be present to win. Signups close at 6:15 p.m. or when all 20 spots are filled. Prizes include two three-day general admissions passes to the 2026 Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, Sept. 11-13 for first place; two tickets to Radio Bristol’s Farm and Fun Time concert featuring Joshua Ray Walker & Chancellor Lawson May 14 and a gift card to Axe and Ale House for second place; and two tickets to the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, a Boot Scootin’ History exhibit poster and card deck, and Axe and Ale House swag for third place.
The exhibit, “Boot Scootin’ History: The Craft and Stories of Cowboy Boots,” features more than 35 handcrafted boots by bespoke bootmaker Lisa Sorell and explores the history and craft of boot making and cowboy boots, shares a behind-the-scenes view into the materials and techniques used and considers the impact of cowboy boots in country and bluegrass music.
Not much of a dancer? No problem! Join us for a Boot Scootin’ Trivia Night at the Lumac Rooftop Bar. There is no charge to participate, though a $10 donation per team is suggested to help support free and low-cost programming. Trivia participants are invited to check out the exhibit any time between 4-6 p.m., March 6 for free. Then boot scoot next door to the Lumac Rooftop Bar at 6 p.m. to test your knowledge.
So put on your best boots and dance on over to the museum for some fun, family-friendly nights of boot scootin’ at the museum. Find out more information and register for events at www.BirthplaceofCountryMusic.org/main-events.
