COA classes cover subjects such as history, Appalachia, science, travel, genealogy, philosophy, literature, technology, health and exercise. Arts-related classes include actors/readers theater, story telling, choral singing and artist bio-films presented by Laken Bridges from William King. Volunteer instructors include both active and retired college and secondary educators.

The first COA classes meet Tuesday, Sept. 15. Six-session classes meet Tuesday through Thursday. Special topic presentations are offered on Mondays. A $40 registration fee covers tuition for all classes and a morning cup of coffee.

COA holds a Fall-Term Welcome Back Celebration at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 3, in the Grand Hall at the Higher Education Center. The event gives prospective students an opportunity to learn about upcoming course offerings, meet their instructors and register for classes.
