JOHNSON CITY – Some current and former students of East Tennessee State University are highlighted in the Sept. 23 issue of Country Weekly.
The Barefoot Movement, a string band that has created its "own brand of bluegrass," is the subject of the issue's "On the Edge" article that "spotlight(s) artists who reside on the fringes of country music."
Its members include students and alumni of ETSU's Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies. They are Noah Wall, Tommy Norris, Haselden "Hasee" Ciaccio and former band member Quentin Acres. Alex Conerly came on board after Acres left the band. Ciaccio is currently a student, and Wall recently graduated with her minor in Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music.
The Barefoot Movement's most recent album, "Figures of the Year," was produced by Roy Andrade, a faculty member in Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies at ETSU. The band's first album was entitled "Footwork."
