Libby Street became involved with theater because her sister, Carly, was into theater. So, Libby followed suit by auditioning.

She has had multiple roles at Theatre Bristol throughout the years. In the upcoming “Charlotte’s Web,” she is taking on the role of stage manager.

“This is my first time taking on the role of state manager for a production beyond middle school, and I’m excited to learn and grow. My responsibilities include coordinating rehearsals, sending reminders about breaks, keeping the rehearsal running on time and maintaining detailed records of blocking, light cues, props, set and scene changes,” she says.

One of her favorite roles is Baker’s Wife in “Into the Woods.”

It “was an incredible experience that I’ll always treasure, thanks in large part to the guidance and trust of my teacher, Joe Jessee, who allowed me to take ownership of the character. When I’m on stage, I get to shed my responsibilities and worries and become someone entirely new — it’s an incredible feeling,” she says.

She believes that behind every great performer is a team of incredible mentors and role models. For her, those individuals include directors Kenn Naegele, Glenn Patterson and Camille Gray, as well as her supportive sister and mom. “And let’s not forget my friend and classmate Amandine Regin — she’s a true star in the making,” she says.

Libby is passionate about singing and acting, and while she enjoys dancing, she is still working on improving her skills.

“Theater means the world to me, as it allows me to become a new person. Throughout my life, I have faced bullying, including death threats, but theater has provided an escape, making me feel free in a way that nothing else can. Theater has greatly improved my mental health, and for that, I am truly grateful.

“Musical theater is definitely my go-to — there’s something about the combination of music, dance and drama that really speaks to me,” she says.

She hasn’t decided what she plans to do when she graduates, but she does know that she wants to continue acting. “Even when I was young, I wanted to own a theater and direct. That has changed now — I’m not sure into what — but I do want to continue a theater legacy,” she says.

She is the youth pastor at Community Church in Bristol and creates lessons and crafts from scratch and teaches all ages. She won the Southwest District Best Actress award during her sophomore year. Other accolades include attending a Governor’s School for acting and being on the Dean’s List.

She is a the daughter of Shawn Street and is a 17-year-old junior at Virginia High School, Bristol, Virginia.
