'Start to See What Everybody Sees in You' by Sarah Grider
ETSU Department of Art & Design and Slocumb Galleries with support from ETSU College of Arts & Sciences, Jerry’s Artarama of Knoxville and Tennessee Craft NE TN Chapter announced the winners for the Mary & Jim Martin Student Juried Art Exhibition 2025.
The Mary & Jim Martin Student Juried Art Exhibition 2025 is an annual exhibition of ETSU students art at Slocumb Galleries. Made possible by a generous donation from a benefactor, the Department of Art & Design and Slocumb Galleries award almost $10,000 cash prizes each year. This year’s juror is Leticia Bajuyo, artist and board director of the MidSouth Sculpture Alliance. Juror Bajuyo selected 57 students out of more than 115 submissions from graduate and undergraduate students at ETSU.
The top awards were conferred to Sarah Grider for her works ‘Start to See What Everybody Sees in You’ and ‘Chasing Songbirds in My Sleep’ as Best of ShowandKatie DavidsonasFaculty Choice Awardfor her body of work ‘On the Line’ with The AccuserandBird Cage.Students Grider and Davidson received $2,000 and $1,500 respectively as purchase awards.
There were also 12Area Awardees who received $500 each for their purchase prize. The Tennessee Craft Northeast Tennessee Chapter also awarded the first, second and third Prizes for Craft Awards to Sarah Grider, Katie Davidson and Don Miller. The Craft awardees received membership and cash awards from Tennessee Craft. Jerrys Artarama of Knoxville also provided gift certificates to students Brianna Hagy and William Arrowood as Honorable Mention. The works including all the other students accepted in the exhibition are on display at Slocumb Galleries until May 8, with viewing hours from 9 am to 5 pm.
