Northeast Tennessee Music Census Launching

Tennessee Entertainment Commission,Tennessee Department of Tourist Development,Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development, and theEast Tennessee State University Research Corporationhave come together to announce the Northeast Tennessee Music Census will go live May 8 atwww.NETNmusic.com.

The Northeast Tennessee Music Census is an online survey that will collect a variety of data from local musicians, music educators and professionals, music nonprofitsand music venues as it relates to how they both live and work within the region of Hancock, Hawkins, Greene, Washington, Unicoi, Sullivan, Carterand Johnson Counties and the city of Bristol. All people 18 years and older who make music happen across Northeast Tennessee are invited to take the survey and let their voices be heard. The survey takes 10-15 minutes to complete, and all responses are anonymous. The results will then be analyzed to provide community leaders and policymakers insights into the region's strengths, challengesand opportunities for growth.

The Northeast Tennessee Music Initiative is spearheaded by ETSU's Research Corporation in collaboration with theBirthplace of Country Music,Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association,Sync Space,Launch Tennessee,ETSU's Department of Appalachian Studies, and theDobyns-Bennett High School Bands. It is supported by funding from TEC and TNDECD. The organizations will work withSound Music Cities, a civic-oriented music policy firm, to capture quantitative information to help community leaders make informed, data-driven decisions about the local music economy across eight counties in Northeast Tennessee.
