The Appalachian Men’s Ensemble presents “Take a Hike,” a program of music inspired by nature, at two locations in May. The first concert is Thursday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the Gray United Methodist Church, Gray, Tennessee. The second concert is Friday, May 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, Bristol, Virginia. The concert program includes well-known favorite pieces such as “Wild Mountain Thyme,”“Edelweiss”, and “Climb Every Mountain.”
In addition, the ensemble performs several pieces by local composers, including an original composition called “Leaf” by Evelyn Pursley-Kopitzke and a new arrangement of “The Happy Wanderer” by Don Brandon. Assistant Conductor Mitchell Snapp also debuts his own arrangement of “What a Wonderful World."
“From trees and flowers to mountains and valleys, this music will connect us to the beauty and grandeur of the great outdoors,” said Artistic Director Noah DeLong. “We hope this program will stir our audiences to explore even more of our region’s scenic beauty.”
The Appalachian Men’s Ensemble includes singers from across the Tri-Cities region and is committed to engaging audiences through musical precision, passion, and commonality. With a dual sense of spirited fraternity and professional excellence, AMEn aims to bring a variety of choral music to our community, and to educate, inspire, and entertain audiences through its activities. The ensemble is led by Artistic Director Noah DeLong, Assistant Conductor Mitchell Snapp, and Pianist Steve Sensenig.
