'Cinderella' is on stage

Knoxville Children’s Theatre presents the live musical “Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella: Youth Edition.” The musical is a one-hour adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s timeless tale designed speci?cally for young performers. The play is performed July 12-28,Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

In a faraway kingdom, there lives a kind and beautiful girl named Cinderella. She is forced to work as a servant for her wickedstepmother and jealous stepsisters. Despite her hardships, Cinderella remains hopeful and kind-hearted. One magical night her fairy godmother transforms her into a dazzling princess and she attends the royal ball, capturing the heart of the charming Prince.

The play is performed by 17 young actors from ages 10 to 16. Cinderella isplayed by Tinsley Clinton with Azariah Arnold playing the prince. KCT veterans Addison White and Jenna Blumberg play the Stepmother and the Queen, respectively. Lydia Komeshak plays the Godmother, Kira Bellamy plays Joy, and Jesse Watson plays Portia.

Joining the cast are KCT veterans Tessa Arwe, Nora Halliburton, Camila Herrera, Allison Loveday, Colette Munyonand Afton Schuh. Making their KCT debuts in this production are Kohl Guillory, Ella Olinzock, Golden Littlejohn and Robbie Mitchell.

This production is directed by KCT Directing Intern Maddy Grace Payne with musical direction by Teresa Seals, and choreography by Donya Walker.

The play is designed by 17 young student designers from ages 9 to 17. KCT veteran Janie Long provides the scenic design with assistance from James Carpenter, Addy Kate Thomas, Sydney Berneyand Zeb Brockman. KCT veteran Elliott Norton provides the lighting design. KCT Veteran Ava Reagan designs and builds the costumes with assistance from Eiley Rickman, Julia Lance, Indra Mynatt, Cat Vy Stallworth, Isabella Summersand Scarlett Cooper. The prop masters are Meredith Harper, Zee Carnes, Chloe Beeler, Hartley Narron, Zoe Brockmanand Layne Templeton. Percy Petit serves as dresser. The play’s stage manager is Emma Reagan with assistant stage manager Madisyn Beckman.
