Euphonium concert is on stage

Wise,VA–“Euphonium Around the World”is a recital celebrating the global voice of the euphonium through music inspired by diverse cultural traditions. Featuringcollaborative pianist Xiao Liang andworks rooted in Africa, Japan, Europe and the United States, the program blends traditional influences,new compositionsand jazz-inspired styles. Together, these selections highlight the euphonium’s remarkable versatility—showcasing its lyrical warmth, technical virtuosity and expressive range across genres and cultures from around the world.

Pro-Art andthe University of Virginia’s College at Wise present Aaron Campbell and Xiao Liang in“Euphonium Around the World” Sunday, April 19at 2 p.m. in Cantrell Hall at UVA Wise.The performance is free and open to all. For more information and to make reservations, visitproartva.org.

Campbellis an award-winning brass performer and conductor currently servingas Director of Bands and Instructor of Music at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. Campbell has performed extensively as aeuphonium,tromboneand tuba musician with professional ensembles throughout the southeastern UnitedStates. Campbell is the first person to earn a Doctor of Musical Arts in Euphonium Performancedegree from the University of Florida, he also holds a Master of Music from James MadisonUniversity, and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of South Florida.

Liangis a pianist whose performance, teaching and research span the United States, Italy, Finland, Malaysia and China. Liang holds aBachelor of Arts degreein Musicology from Beijing Normal University,a Master of Music degreein Piano Performance from the University of Florida, and a Performance Diploma from Indiana University. She earned herDoctor of MusicalArtsin Piano Performance with a specialized certification in Piano Pedagogy from Florida State University. She is a member of the teaching faculty at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, where she also serves as a collaborative pianist.
