BIG STONE GAP, Va.-The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park hosts its first “Lunch on the Lawn” summer music series Friday, June 19, from 12 to 1 p.m., featuring Evan O’Quinn.
O’Quinn is a singer-songwriter from Big Stone Gap, Virginia, whose performances include wonderful original music, as well as covers that range from contemporary jazz to Appalachian classics. O'Quinn graduated from Berkley School of Music in 2020 where he studied music composition. He has performed on stage at many exciting venues, including playing Johnny Cash in “Million Dollar Quartet” at the Appalachian Center for the arts in Pikeville, Kentucky, and portraying Jack Hale in the official outdoor drama of Virginia “Trail of the Lonesome Pine” in Big Stone Gap. He teaches guitar at Junior Appalachian Music School and plays with the local music group “Das Novas.”
Park staff and volunteers will have crafts and activities for children at each “Lunch on the Lawn” program.So, bring the whole family out, have some fun in the beautiful Victorian Garden and enjoy an afternoon of home-grown music and entertainment on thelawn of the museum.
The “Lunch on the Lawn” event is free and open to the public. Participants should bring their own lunch.
