Experience the Magic of 'The Little Mermaid'

March 27–28, 2026 @ Clayton Center for the Arts

The Appalachian Ballet Company performs "The Little Mermaid"at the Clayton Center for the Arts March 27 at 7 p.m., and March 28 at 3 p.m. This enchanting one-and-a-half-hour ballet, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's beloved fairy tale, promises to delight audiences of all ages.

In scene one, meet the Little Mermaid, portrayed by Laura Morton La Russa, as she yearns for a human soul. After rescuing the Prince, played by James La Russa, she seeks the Sea Witch (Temperance Coker) for a potion that grants her legs in exchange for her voice.

In scene two,celebrate with the townspeople in the village square as they prepare for the Prince’s upcoming wedding to his fiancée, played by Hannah Barber, unaware of the Prince's true feelings for the Little Mermaid.

In scene three, witness the heartwarming moment when the Prince declares his love for the Little Mermaid, leading to a royal wedding celebration.

With stunning scenery and vibrant costumes, enhanced by lighting designed by John Horner, this production is a visual feast that will enchant audiences from start to finish.

After the Saturday matinee, audience members have the opportunity to meet and greet the cast and take photos with the talented dancers of the Appalachian Ballet Company.
